Getting to Seldovia

"It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end"

Getting to Seldovia is a big part of the adventure!  Seldovia is not accessible by road.  You have to come here by air or by sea.  The drive from Anchorage to Homer is approximately 221 miles.  This is probably one of the most scenic drives in Alaska.  You start by driving along the Turnagain Arm, then through a majestic mountain pass, next to the crystal blues waters of the famous Kenai River and then arrive in Homer on beautiful Katchemak Bay.

Next is the second part of your adventure.  You can take The Seldovia Bay Ferry directly to Seldovia, approximately one hour.  If you want to bring a vehicle to Seldovia you can take The Alaska Marine Highway Ferry, approximately 1 hour 15 minutes travel time (but loading and unloading takes time you have to consider!) You may also take a water taxi to Jakolof Bay with Makos Water Taxi, approximately 45 minutes, then have Halo Cab 907-399-4229 pick you up and drive you to Seldovia, another 30 minute drive.

If you prefer to fly, you could take a single engine air taxi service such as Smokey Bay Air or K Bay Air.  Those take about 11 minutes to fly from Homer to Seldovia.

If the long drive does not sound like your thing, you could fly to Homer on Ravn Alaska which takes about 45 minutes or fly directly from Anchorage to Seldovia on Alaska Air Taxi which is about an hour flight.

We have experienced all of these options.  There is always something fun to see along the way with any of these transportation choices.  Which ever one you choose, let us know how you will be arriving and look forward to seeing you!
